Oldest Club In HuddersfieldGrove Tennis Club is thought to be the oldest tennis club in Huddersfield. It was certainly in existence in 1900 and the honours' boards in the club house go back to 1906 when Percy Sykes was elected President of the club. His name is still remembered each year when members compete for the mixed doubles Percy Sykes Trophy.

In the clubhouse you can find photos from the early 20th century with Grove Club players over the years. We hope the club can continue to attract and grow new members to ensure its survival.
President's Day
We continue to celebrate our former President Percy Sykes with a mixed doubles tournament.
President's Day normally takes place in July and all members and family and friends are encouraged to come along to play and spectate and socialise. It is a great opportunity to meet other members and the atmosphere is always friendly and fun. We're normally blessed with glorious sunshine so it is a lovely day for all the family. It is also a great opportunity for new prospective members to see the courts.
We will advise all members of the date of President's Day once it is agreed. Grove Tennis Club is welcoming and friendly, attracting players who enjoy social tennis and meeting like-minded people. We would like to offer tennis coaching for those who want to improve their game. Grove has a men's team in the Slazenger Huddersfield & District Tennis League, for those who enjoy more competitive tennis. |
Whatever your standard or age, we hope you will join us and enjoy your tennis at Grove Lawn Tennis Club, Huddersfield.
We have a strong heritage at Grove and we hope to have a great future.
